election day

Ok..Ok..Ok! It has been a while I admit. And I even have a lovely half-finished entry about my time in Basel which I haven't managed to add yet. Oh the shame. I should be banned from blogger for hebetudinous torpidity. Mind you the Government in Turkey might just ban me anyway. So far they have proscribed twitter and you tube. It may only be a matter of sweet time.
Speaking of the Government, today there are very important local elections going on all over Turkey. There is a lot of unhappiness in Turkey right now ( allegations of corruption, espionage etc) so the outcome of this election is very important for the direction this country will take. I cannot vote of course but I somehow feel invested in the outcome too. Certainly not to the same extent as a Turk of course but you cannot live in this country and remain a mere bystander.  Fingers crossed peace remains on the streets at least. No more lives should be lost like poor Berkin's.

I really don't know why I haven't written a blog for the past few months. I haven't really written anything else either. No excuse really. Work has been busy I guess. But if I want to be a writer I should at least write!!!!

My girls are doing fine though.
